Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting

About

The mission of the Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting Program is to prepare the student for a career in the health care field in the areas of Certified Nursing Assistant, EKG Technician, Phlebotomy and Medical Assisting. The goal would be to provide the learning experiences including the technical instruction and skill development to enable graduates of the program to obtain the knowledge and experience necessary to secure licensure and become gainfully employed. The technician is mainly focused on working closely with patients, in conjunction with nurses and physicians to perform multiple medical tasks. The student completing the year long program will be trained in both clinical and administrative work, with responsibilities in multiple medical areas such as a lab, telemetry unit, exam room and the front office. May also perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician.

Those interested in seeking admission to the Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting Program at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hartsville MUST first successfully pass the HESI exam. The cost is $50 The test is scheduled to be given at various times.
